So, I saw Indiana Jones 4 yesterday. So be warned, there could be spoilers in here. I don't know what qualifies as a "spoiler," but there you are.
I've got to say - I'm disappointed in you, George Lucas.
I really wanted to love this movie. I really did. But in the end, even Harrison Ford's overwhelming awesomeness couldn't pull it out of the pit it started digging about halfway through (vines? Come on, George). I'm not going to say it didn't have good moments. After all, there was an atomic bomb, and they did bring back Marion Ravenwood, unquestionably the coolest of his "sidekicks."
But you want to know what I liked the least?
In the end, Dr. Jones gets "promoted" to the position of assistant dean of his university. This is terrible! A hands-on researcher like Jones, "promoted" to an administrative position? This is the academic equivalent of a cop being forced to work a desk, a hacker being forbidden from accessing the internet, or a serial killer in a world without chainsaws.
It would have been less cruel to just stuff Indy into a sack and jam him into the "space between space," if you know what I mean.
So, farewell, Dr. Jones. Please do us a favor and encourage the fruit of your loins to stick with motorcycle repair - I don't want to have to see "Mutt Williams and the Spear of Destiny" or somesuch nonsense.

Loved your review of movie. But weren't you sort of hard on Lucas? He's getting too long in the tooth.
Perhaps I am being a little hard on Lucas. It's just that I feel so... cheated. I mean, it's Indiana Jones! That's half the street cred it needs right there! I have to blame someone....
So, I guess I can forgive him for not knowing the ins and outs of the ivory tower. A little. Not the whole way. But a little, certainly.
okay, jake, so knowing me, should i actually go see it?
i love marion, but have been worried for the entire time of build-up that it's not going to be as cool as it should.
